CELEBRATE OUR HOME

5:38pm July 11, 2017

Stunning scenery, an industrious spirit, and a rich quality of life: These qualities make Montrose and the surrounding areas a great place to live, work, and play. They are also the major highlights of a collaborative video from Elevate Fiber, powered by DMEA, and the City of Montrose Office of Business and Tourism. The video titled “Are You Ready?” features the riches of western Colorado, which now include access to gigabit internet. Working together, Elevate and the city’s Office of Business and Tourism (OBT) produced the video along with a supporting brochure to promote economic development throughout the region.

“Western Colorado is an amazing place to live - we already know this. But the way we live and work continues to evolve and it will be more important than ever for us to move forward and stay connected. Elevate is connecting our remote and rugged region to the rest of the world and it’s time we start celebrating that,” said Jasen Bronec, DMEA CEO.

The video celebrates what makes our region great: recreation, agriculture, and an entrepreneurial spirit - something that can now thrive with access to gigabit internet speeds. The exceptional speeds, coupled with the changing dynamics of how people work, have created communities ripe with potential for economic advancement. Elevate Fiber was started because our members had a need for quality high-speed internet and now that it has become a reality (well off to a start) we have the opportunity for long-term sustainability for our beauitful area. One more reason for us to celebrate our home!

Elevate is excited to celebrate our home, our future, our members, and this video is one way that we are making the celebration a great one. Help us celebrate by checking out this video and sharing what you love most about our communities on our Facebook page, remember to tag posts with #adventurewestco.

Thank you to all of our members for the continued support!

ELEVATE FIBER – ONE YEAR IN THE MAKING

1:19pm June 29, 2017

1,000+ customers installed

Elevate Fiber, powered by DMEA, was introduced one year ago at the 2016 Annual Meeting of Members. The introduction of the project was one of the most exciting moments for DMEA and our members. The story has always been the same—our members asked us provide high-speed internet to our area. We listened and we acted.

“Elevate is truly an example of the power of cooperative membership. Without the passion and support of our members, we could not have brought the company to life. It has been overwhelming to see members from all parts of our service territory express their need for high-speed internet and their appreciation for our efforts. I commend our board for representing our members’ best interests and working to improve the quality of life in the region by building a fiber network,” said Jasen Bronec, DMEA CEO.

Fiber builds are expensive, time consuming, frustrating, rewarding, and more. Every day brings something new and it is not always easy making sure all members have the chance to be involved in the project updates. We send a sincere thanks to every single member for their continued support, even during the challenges and frustrations.

We are proud to say that before we hit one year of the project being live, we have connected more than 1,000 members to Elevate Fiber. To continue to be successful, we will constantly evaluate the construction process, how we install the fiber to communities (boring underground vs. aerial, as an example), the equipment we use, the speeds we offer, new solutions that may be offered, the actual in-home installation process, and much more. There was no way that one year ago we could have predicted every bump or the outpouring of member requests to get fiber to their area first. The realities of construction and member feedback have changed how we complete the work.

“Response from our members has been extraordinary. We know it can be frustrating for people to realize that their community may not be able to get fiber this year. With more than 3,000 miles of fiber to build across Montrose and Delta counties, it will take years to provide service in all DMEA communities. The success in the areas that already have service is contagious. The more communities that get live service, the more the excitement grows—let’s keep the momentum going,” said Bronec.

 Which zones will be next?

Fiber is being delivered first to communities who have shown the most interest by preregistering at join.elevatefiber.com. However, this is just one way we evaluate when and where Elevate can build. We also evaluate factors that influence overall costs, such as a community’s geography and timeline for seeing a positive financial return on our investment, among other factors. The end goal is to provide access to our network to every DMEA member, but there must be interest from the members and the incoming revenue from areas that have service to support the continued build. One year down and many more ahead, but that has always been the reality of this project. An entire fiber project cannot be built overnight or even within two years. The continued patience and support of our members is what will make Elevate a long-term success.

 Communities in construction

Home and business installations are currently taking place in multiple zones. If you live in one of the zones listed below, it is extremely important to contact us as soon as possible. Call 877-687-3632, visit join.elevatefiber.com, or stop by one of our local DMEA offices during normal business hours to get signed up for service.

  • Paonia 45: $100 installation special is no longer available as the initial construction phase is complete. Service installations can take place at the regular $199 installation fee, so contact us now to get service.
  • Montrose 721: installations are still taking place and the $100 installation special is still valid. We need more active members in this area. If you are already signed up, tell a neighbor to not miss getting connected.
  • Orchard City 104: $100 installation special is no longer available as the initial construction phase is complete. Service installations can take place at the regular $199 installation fee, so contact us now to get service.
  • Paonia 47: installations are still taking place and the $100 installation special is still valid. We need more active members in this area. If you are already signed up, tell a neighbor to not miss getting connected.

Communities coming soon – make ready

Our goal is to get multiple areas in this stage over the next few months. The make ready stage is when our crews come into the area and lay the main network and bring fiber to each meter on the outside of a home or business.

  • Hotchkiss 48: installations will be starting this summer
  • Cedaredge 125: almost to goal, tell your neighbor to get signed up
  • Montrose 418: almost to goal, tell your neighbor to get signed up
  • Montrose 425: almost to goal, tell your neighbor to get signed up

 Construction summary

If your community is not listed above, do not worry, with continued support from you and your neighbors you may be next. You can follow how close your community is to reaching its goal by visiting join.elevatefiber.com and clicking on the Zones tab. The first step to bringing fiber to your community is to reach the set goal—become a champion for your community to help spread the word—just ask us how.

Thank You Members—DMEA Spotlighted at National Level!

10:47am May 30, 2017

Elevate Fiber and DMEA are excited to announce that our fiber internet build project was recognized at the 2017 CONNECT Conference put on by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). Our project efforts took home the highest honor possible—2017 Edgar F. Chesnutt Award, a part of the Spotlight on Excellence Awards Program.

Most importantly, this award would not have been possible without the support of our membership, so thank you. Elevate Fiber was brought to life because of our members’ needs for faster and more reliable internet service. As we have said before, you asked, and we listened. Elevate was launched almost a year ago at the 2016 Annual Meeting of Members in Montrose. Over these short 12 months, DMEA, Elevate, and all our amazing members have created something so much more than just an internet solution for our area. We have thrived together; supported each other; put on events and raised awareness to get people engaged. Without all our members being active and asking questions—we would not be where we are today. So, again, thank you members.

“This award reinforces the important work we are doing in our communities. Our members have a need and we are here to deliver, just like we did with electricity years ago. Thank you to our members and board for their continued support of this monumental project.” mentioned Jasen Bronec, CEO at DMEA, after taking home the award.

DMEA’s team and the Elevate Fiber project were spotlighted at the CONNECT Conference back in early May and we wanted to share the success and thank every one of our members. Check out the spotlight video from the conference below. Make sure to follow us on Facebook and share this with your friends and family.

THE NEED FOR SPEED

9:59am April 13, 2017

Do you know what internet speed you currently pay for? Secondly, did you know the minimum speed needed for a “good experience” on one device is 10 Mbps? Who has just one device (think about smartphones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs)? And who is okay settling because nothing else is available?

Elevate Fiber delivers much more than a “good experience” on every device that needs to be connected to the internet, wired or via WiFi. Not only is Elevate delivering truly high-speed internet options, we are building the most reliable, future-proof network with fiber.

You may have asked yourself why do I need more speed? If you are a basic email user, you may not think you need more speed, but wouldn't you like to have the reliability of fiber and be able to upload or download photos from email without waiting? Let's look at some everyday activities and the difference between a 10 Mbps vs. 100 Mbps vs. 1 Gig connection.

HOTCHKISS 48 HITS GOAL

5:24pm March 29, 2017

Congratulations to all those who live in Hotchkiss 48—your zone has reached its preregistration goal to move to the next phase in construction!

We will communicate with all those preregistered via email so make sure your join.elevatefiber.com account has the correct email address noted, sign in here to check. Make sure to spread the news to your neighbors too, as they will want to make sure they are on the list and can take advantage of the limited time $100 installation fee (includes free WiFi router) before construction is completed.

So, what happens once an area reaches its goal? Reaching the goal that is set on join.elevatefiber.com is just the first step. Once an area reaches the needed goal to move to the next phase there are a lot of different processes that must take place to ensure the build runs smoothly. Each zone can take months to complete depending on main fiber line installation, equipment, permitting, and then actual customer installations. If you want to know more about the construction process and equipment details, check out this FAQ. We know at times the process and timeline can be frustrating but thank you to all our members for the continued patience and excitement—we could not do this without all of you.

We try to keep all members informed on progress and announcements, but remember to follow us on Facebook to have access to the latest Elevate news and happenings. What zone is going to be next?

CONSTRUCTION RAMPS UP - ORCHARD CITY HERE WE COME!

10:40am March 23, 2017

Can you tell we’re excited to kick off home installations in Orchard City 104? This is the second zone to have access to our 100% fiber network and gigabit internet speeds. Last fall, Paonia 047 became the first area to receive service. Now, almost 400 customers are surfing, streaming, working, and playing on the fastest internet connection in town!

Here are some photos from a few of our very first installs in Orchard City 104 this week:

Montrose 721 we’re headed your way next. Stayed tuned for a call from our installation schedulers next month. We hope to be bringing live service to your area by late April. In the meantime, keep spreading the good word: share our updates, like us on Facebook, send emails to your contacts, and tell everyone how excited you are for Elevate. Plus, don’t forget to set yourself as a Champion on this site so we can call on you for help.

It's great news for Orchard City 104. Home installations are set to kick off next week!

2:58pm March 16, 2017

If you’re in this zone and have preregistered for service, be sure to complete your contract so your name can be added to the installation ready list. You should have received everything you need via email earlier this week. Can’t find our email in your inbox? Don’t worry, just give us a call at 877-687-3632 and speak with one of our customer service representatives.

Remember, the construction process takes time—from the time you sign your contract to having live service in your home can take as much at 90 days. Thank you for the continued patience and support!

The work isn't over, Orchard City 104. Keep spreading the good word to your friends and neighbors to sign up before it’s too late. Once our crews leave the area, the installation price goes up to $199. Plus, the rest of DMEA’s service territory still needs your help. Help the other zones reach their goals by continuing to champion the project in your community.

  • Tell your friends, family members, and neighbors to visit join.elevatefiber.com and preregister today—they can also give us a call or stop by a DMEA office to get preregistered

2016 Morning Buzz

YOUR PREREGISTRATION COUNTS - BUT ONLY ONCE!

4:32pm January 30, 2017

First off, if you’re reading this, thank you for supporting Elevate. By preregistering for service, you’re working to bring the fastest and most reliable internet connection to your community.

Remember, we’re using the information we collect on this website to help us determine where to build next. That means we work to keep the preregistration numbers accurate and will delete duplicate preregistrations when they appear. In some zones, there are enough duplicate preregistrations that you’ll see a reduction in the percentage to goal when the duplicates are removed.

Help us keep things on track and remind people to only preregister once. If you’re not sure if you have preregistered, just . . .

  1. Give us a call at 877-687-3632 and a customer service representative can confirm your Elevate registration.
  2. Log in to your account on this site. When you signed up, you entered an email and password. Simply log back into your account and you’ll see what zone you’re located in and your zone’s status.

Goal Updates!

8:56am January 6, 2017

Hey Elevate backers, just wanted to give you all a heads up that we are adjusting some of the individual zone goals. After more in-depth design work and additional financial analysis we are able to refine goals in several zones. So, if you see a big swing in a zone, don't be alarmed, it is just the work that we are doing to ensure that we build out our system as effectively and efficienctly as possible.

Elevate Fiber Holiday Update

3:40pm December 22, 2016

Elevate Fiber Update

Elevate crews have been extremely busy the last several months delivering fiber service to our members in the Paonia area. Installations started in late October and we now have over 150 members installed. We appreciate everyone's patience and support through this process. Every day brings new obstacles and we are doing everything possible to exceed our members' expectations and to keep our members informed.

We wanted to let you know that our crews will be taking some time off for the holidays, so don't fret when our trucks are not rolling down the street, construction will resume after the New Year. Crews will continue to complete installations in Paonia through January and prepare the Cobble Creek (Montrose 721 zone) and Orchard City (Orchard City 104 zone) areas for installation next. If you are patiently waiting for your community to make the list, thank you, and tell your neighbors to make sure they preregister at join.elevatefiber.com.

  • Live in Paonia? Make sure you have your service contract completed and are on our installation list. Once our crews leave the area we will no longer we able to offer the $100 installation fee (includes FREE WiFi router). Stop by our Read or Montrose location or give us a call today 877-687-3632 to get on the list.
  • Live in Cobble Creek or Orchard City? Start spreading the word that Elevate Fiber is coming soon. We want to make sure that everyone is preregistered so they can take advantage of the $100 installation fee and are on the list to get ultra-fast internet. What are you going to do with 1 Gig (1,000 Mbps) internet speeds?

DMEA offices will be closed December 26 and 27 for our employees to enjoy time with their families.

Referral Contest Winner Announced

12:54pm August 30, 2016

At the 2016 DMEA Annual Meeting we launched a referral contest for Elevate Fiber. The member who referred the most preregistrations through July would win a smart TV—thank you to our winner Bobby (Robert) Orlando from Paonia for supporting Elevate and getting his friends, family, and neighbors to preregister for service. The Elevate Fiber project would not be possible without our communities support—thank you to all of our members.

"I feel that the faster internet and possibly the phone service will definitely add convenience and reduce wait time in my life but it’s the future possibilities for this region that really have me excited, my children and their children will not be limited by outdated technology—there is no limit with Elevate," Bobby told DMEA when he picked up his new TV. It is members like this and all of you who will take our area into the future.

Congratulations Bobby!

Pictured above: Smart TV winner, Bobby (Robert) Orlando from Paonia with DMEA CSR, Sheila Davis.

Thank You Champions!

3:49pm August 22, 2016

Raise your hand if you made it to the annual Orchard City Town Picnic. Now, raise it again if you had the opportunity to chat with a few of our dedicated Elevate champions, Terry Salisbury, Memory McDermott, and Jane Gage. We can’t say it enough: thank you! Thank you for supporting Elevate. Thank you for getting your friends, families, and neighbors excited. Thank you for being true champions!

It’s supporters like you who will make Elevate succeed. Think about it. More than 75 years ago, a handful of people were canvassing the countryside trying to convince their neighbors to join the co-op and bring electricity to the rural countryside. It’s time to relive that history and bring fast, reliable, and affordable internet to our communities.

So, go forth and conquer champions - we need you!

Elevate is coming to Paonia

9:48am August 19, 2016

Thank you to all of the DMEA members who are supporting the Elevate Fiber project, spreading awareness, and for being patient while the fiber build process takes place. Help DMEA take our communities into the future by continuing to support Elevate.

DMEA is proud to energize and serve more than 27,000 members in Montrose, Delta, and Gunnison counties. As your not-for-profit electric utility we put you—our members—first, which means our programs and services, including Elevate, are designed to benefit you. This project would not be possible without our member support. We are building the future of our area together—a reliable fiber network to every community will ensure we are ready for new technologies and that every home and business has a reliable and extremely fast connection to the internet. Best part, Elevate is coming to Paonia soon.

The community of Paonia exceeded the goal of preregistrations in less than 6 weeks.  What that means is construction is starting soon and Paonia will experience 100x faster internet speeds compared to the majority of the nation as early as this fall. Our team has been building out the plans the past few weeks and starting next week will be taking 'fiber to the curb' throughout the community. This process will take a few weeks and as soon as it is complete we will start taking fiber to meter, which will be followed by actual installation of services. Details of this process and timelines will be emailed to all those that are preregistered in Paonia. If you know your neighbor has not preregistered remind them NOW IS THE TIME—once we leave the area the $100 installation fee increases.

Why is Elevate different compared to other providers in the area? Elevate is delivering a 100% fiber network. Meaning our network is not just backed by fiber, we will bring fiber right into your home or business—and plan to bring the connection to EVERY DMEA member as long as the interest is there. Plus, Elevate is powered by DMEA your local electric utility who you know and trust and has a long history of being a community partner—our members come first.

Fiber benefits:

  • RELIABLE. Fiber guarantees the most reliable high-quality connection—less affected by weather and other elements.
  • SUPER FAST. Access to the fastest speeds—up to 1 Gig (1,000 megabits per second). There is no other provider offering speeds up to 1 Gig or even 100 Mbps—Elevate's basic package is 100 Mbps. If you think a 'up to 30 or 60 Mbps' connection will compare, it won't.
  • NO BUFFERING. With 1 Gig you can download a 2-hour HD movie in 25 seconds, download a 9-hour audiobook in under a second, and so much more.
  • FUTURE-PROOF. The fiber optic cables we install today are considered 'future-proof' and will be able to handle increased data loads as the need for more and more speed grows.
  • NOT JUST INTERNET. Elevate plans to deliver voice service and video (TV) service over the same connection. The voice offering will operate the same as your local telephone service but includes unlimited long distance and advanced calling features. DMEA also hopes to offer a video (TV) service in the future that will be an affordable option giving you access to local channels and popular streaming solutions for one low price.
  • PROPERTY VALUE. Fiber tends to increase property values by as much as $5,000 per property (value provided by RVA, LLC home owner and developer survey and research commissioned by the FTTH Council).

Will Montrose be next, Orchard City, Hotchkiss, or your community? All communities are up for preregistration, even if a goal is not listed. Construction will begin in the next community that shows the most interest. Preregistering now also guarantees an installation fee of just $100, which includes a WiFi router so that every device in your home can be connected wirelessly to the internet. Don't wait to preregister—help us bring fiber to all members and get your neighbors, friends, and family to preregister today.

Delta County Fair This Week

10:38am August 10, 2016

The Delta County Fair is happening this week through Sunday, Augst 13. Stop by to check out all of the events, good food, and fun to be had for the whole family. Plus, you can find out more about Elevate Fiber.

Elevate Fiber will have an informational booth set up this Friday, August 12, from 9 AM to 2 PM at the fair. We will have representatives available to dicuss the benefits of fiber, progress of the project and how to preregister. Remember the more you spread the word about Elevate the sooner super fast internet could be delivered to your community. Tell your friends, neighbors, and family to stop by our booth. Also, you can pick up informational cards to pass around your neighborhood.

Paonia has already met their goal and construction will begin this fall. Will your community be next?

So you have preregistered—now what?

5:21pm August 5, 2016

We almost have 2,000 homes and businesses preregistered for Elevate Fiber service. This would not be possible without all of the DMEA members supporting Elevate Fiber. We are bringing super fast internet—1 Gig (1,000 Mbps)—to our communities, and are so excited. Thank you for your support!

In less than 6 weeks Paonia met the goal for construction to begin. Paonia construction will begin this fall with more details coming soon.

Will your community be next? To help raise awareness we wanted to let you know how you can help. We appreciate our members support, patience and questions while we work to launch Elevate service.

  • Login to your Elevate account and send postcards to all those in your area for FREE, we cover everything!
  • Attend our Elevate booth at our local events and show your support.
    • Delta County Fair Aug 8-13
    • Cedaredge City Council Event Aug 18
    • Paonia Pickin' in the Park Aug 25
    • Olathe Fair Aug 27
  • Let others in your area know that all homes and businesses can preregister NOW. They do not have to wait until a goal is set. Interest levels from preregistration will guide our construction process. Your community could be next when enough people preregister.
  • Follow us on Facebook, like and share all of our posts.
  • Let us know what questions you have or have heard in the community by posting comments on our Elevate comment page or give us a call at 877-687-3632.

Horizontal What?!?

11:44am July 19, 2016

We've gotten numerous questions about how we will actually install our fiber cables underground. There are a lot of options out there, but we're focusing on two methods that will have the least impact on your property! Check out the videos below to learn more about vibratory plowing and horizontal drilling (please note these are not the specific contractors or brands we will be working with - just examples!).

Elevate Fiber—powered by DMEA—is here.

12:02pm June 8, 2016

Letter from Jasen Broncec (CEO, Delta-Montrose Electric Association)

Since 1938, DMEA has provided Delta and Montrose counties with essential services, even in remote rural locations. Recently, you—our members—asked us to investigate the option of providing high-speed internet to our service area. We heard you, and I am thrilled to announce the launch of Elevate Fiber.

Elevate Fiber internet brings speeds up to 1 Gigabit per second. That’s 1,000 Megabits per second—100 times faster than the national average, which means you avoid the frustrations of slow internet service. Fiber is known for being future-proof, meaning the fiber we install today will be able to handle increased data loads as the need for more and more speed grows. Our fiber network is also more reliable than other types of networks, less prone to interference and complications from lightning and other natural elements. Fiber also tends to raise the property value of homes by as much as $5,000.

Every customer who signs up will also receive a WiFi router so you have the best possible wireless connection in your home or business. This will allow you to have multiple devices from desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, TVs, and more all connected at speeds that will make everyone happy.

Elevate Fiber also introduces voice service! Our voice offering will provide crystal clear connections, including reliable access to 911 emergency services and advanced calling features.

DMEA has a proud history of bringing power to the area, and we look forward to the future as we bring fiber to the communities we know and love.

Good morning, Jerry and Michael. I feel your frustrations. The infrastructure you’re seeing being built around Cedaredge 125, such as communication pedestals (what you’re more likely seeing in lots around town) are part of the distribution infrastructure that will serve that zone. I know it may look like we’re providing service to an empty lot, but remember we require a 12-month contract. This means we will only build to and install fiber at a home/property where a customer has contracted to pay for a year of service. We are not providing internet service to places that aren’t paying for it. I understand how seeing our construction team install or work on equipment in vacant or empty lots can be confusing. I also understand how it can feel like you’ve lived and breathed Elevate for a year and still not have everyone know about it. I have to remind myself everyday that we are only in year 2 of a 6-year project. Something this monumental will take time, in regards to both construction and simply getting people signed up. Seasonal customers are already a reality for us and we have many people who take advantage of the vacation rate. It still costs Elevate and the cooperative to build to seasonal homes so we must include them in the zone. It would irresponsible of us to not consider the costs and, in return, the revenue, of serving these types of homes. I truly appreciate your support of Elevate. All I can do is continue to ask for your patience and help spreading the word. Thank you!

Interesting that Elevate can install fiber optic infrastructure on empty lots across from the Cedaredge Schools which will produce no revenue soon and leave out a the high density paying customers surrounding the golf course?? Please explain this.

To Larry Bailey, I'm in 124 as well. We will not reach 100 percent because just about everyone who lives in 124 all year long have alrready pre-registered. I fail to understand why they included so many seaonal residents in that zone.

Becky, Could you or someone from Elevate call me at 970.445.7610 as soon as possible, I am one of the new owners at the campground below Paonia Dam and would like to speak with someone this week regarding elevate. I need to get internet running asap and have TDS scheduled for next week, if I can communicate directly with one of your folks and understand your soft dates I will switch. Thank you, Paul.

Hi Larry. Yes! Our goal always has been, and always will be, to make Elevate available in all the zones within DMEA’s service territory. From the start, we’ve expected it to take up to six years to make that a reality. We’re in year two and the progress is astounding. I realize it’s frustrating to not be in a zone that doesn’t have fiber yet. I just moved out a zone that hit its goal into one that needs more than 300 preregistrations – ugh! We will get there. Thanks for the support.

Dear Ms. Mashburn, I am in Cedaredge 124 which is a long way from reaching its goal. If a zone never reaches its goal will DMEA eventually install Elevate in that area?

Good morning, Rea-Ann. I’m so sorry for the confusion. Yes, you are on the list when it comes to your preregistration for Cedaredge 125. Now, we need you to complete your service contract. This is different than your preregistration. You should have received an email with instructions and a link. We will contact you directly to make sure we have your correct email and resend you the information. If you did complete your contract, it may just mean that property is not quite ready to be installed and that is why you weren’t “on the list” yet. Stay tuned for a call from us! Preregistration is free, however, the installation fee has always been $100. This is the discounted price for preregistering. You pay this fee when your install is scheduled. I’m sorry there has been some confusion.

I signed up very early with Elevate, and reconfirmed I was signed up at the Appleshed event earlier this year. My neighbors have been contacted for install, but I have not-and one neighbor asked if I was on the list--the worker said no. When I signed up, the install was supposed to be free. I filled out the form again on this site--I did not have to create a new account because I already had one with elevate. I had to accept the terms to complete this form, but it wants to charge $100.00 for the install. What is happening here?

Hi Ivy, I totally know the feeling. I actually just moved out of zone that was 6 preregistrations away from getting fiber! Right now, there is no flexibility on the zones. However, I do recommend having your company contact our business representative: Austin French, Austin.french@elevatefiber.com or 970-240-6873. Some businesses are opting to pay for their portion of the build out in order to get our service. This is a case-by-case scenario and your company would have to cover the costs of the build, since it would fall out of our business model – but it is an option. Meanwhile stay tune for more info soon about Montrose 418, you are so close!

I wonder if there is any flexibility in the zones? My home is only 9 signups away from the goal, but my place of employment is very far away from the goal. The location for my work is about 20 yards away from the border of a zone that is close to reaching goal. Is there any way the company could be "looped into" zone 418?

So I have this beautiful little box on the outside of my house now! Really happy about that, BUT, a little disappointed with communication so far. I keep waiting for a call or an email to schedule the actual service connection! MAYBE IF I TYPE IN ALL CAPS I CAN GET SPECIAL TREATMENT!!! Just kidding guys & gals. Seems like a pretty great job on a massive project. Can't wait for my next comment to be delivered at LIGHTning speed! Until then, enjoy this joke: Three logicians sit down at the counter of the local diner. After describing the special the server asks the following "Would you all like the special?" The first logician says "I don't know." The second answers identically to the first. The third then says "Yes, please." *nerds laugh now..................googlers........... welcome to the nerd laugh club!

Those of us in Cedaredge 126 were happy to see that Cedaredge 125 met their goal this week. I have been working with 5 other people in going house -to-house to get the word out about Elevate. We have picked up 5 more preregistrations this week. I am curious about why the "downtown" Cedaredge goal is just one more than zone 126. Our geographic area is a bit larger but the land parcels are much bigger and more spread out than zone 125. Anyway, we'll keep at it and are very anxious to get Elevate fired up in our area.

Hi Thomas, We love your enthusiasm. And don’t worry, most of us aren’t waiting very patiently either! You should have received an email just the other day with information about the process. I’ve copied it here in case you missed it. Also, be sure to check your email (the one you preregistered with) soon for the instructions on how to sign your service contract. We estimate it takes about 4 to 6 months to complete a zone! Congratulations, your zone has hit its preregistration goal—Get ready to enjoy the internet again! Thank you for all of your support as this project is not possible without our amazing community members. We’ve released your zone for final design and preconstruction work. You may have already seen our crews around the area installing our main fiber lines; this is the first step in our construction process. Remember, since we are building our network from the ground up, it will take time to complete the build out of your zone. It is a multi-month and multi-step process: Step 1: Finalize the design of the network in your zone. Step 2: Complete construction of the main fiber lines that bring our high-speed internet from our substations into your community. Step 3: Bring the fiber lines to the outside of your home or business and install the outside equipment. You will not need to be present for this, but we will notify you before working on your property. Step 4: Install live service inside your home or business so you can enjoy frustration-free internet! You will soon receive an email with instructions on how to complete your service contract. So, keep an eye on your inbox. Don't forget to tell your neighbors to get on the list at join.elevatefiber.com before it is too late. Once we leave the area, the installation rate will double and they will have to wait in line. Spread the word—Elevate is coming soon. ~ Your Elevate Fiber Team

Super excited about elevate coming to Cedaredge 125! I've been incredibly impatient and just like a 5 year old on Christmas I wanna open my present early! Just wondering, how far are you guys on the "make ready" stage with Cedaredge 125 and how long do you think till initial installations? I know I should be patient but the internet at my house is horrible and it's pretty often that the internet goes out. I've also done a bit of advertising on facebook for Elevate so if you guys really wanna start installing in Cedaredge, I'd love to be one of the first, just saying. Anyway, incredibly excited for Elevate!!! I can't wait to hear from you guys and I hope you guys are as excited as I am to have Elevate in Cedaredge 125!!!

Hi John, I know it is frustrating to be in a zone that isn’t close to its goal, especially when the neighboring zone is so close! We can’t simply change the zone in which an address falls because zone boundaries are determined according to DMEA’s power lines. The fiber lines will follow the same infrastructure as the power lines (route from substations, poles, etc.). The reason you are located in Cedaredge 124 is because that is also the feeder (main power line) that brings power to your home. The fiber line that brings internet to you will follow that same path. Remember, this is a long-term project. It will 5 to 6 years to build the more than 3,000+ miles of fiber throughout DMEA’s service territory. Please keep spreading the good word and we will get there!

Like John Stinnett, I am in area 124. I have passed out door hangers all the way up Ute Trail and Northern Surface creek past Starner Loop Road with tremendous enthusiasm . It is a 4 mile stretch that IF included in area 126 (directly across Hwy 65) would easily meet the 100% mark in a hurry. Yet we are included in a huge area (one of the largest areas on your map) that is mostly seasonal residents farther up Hwy 65. Most of us have power lines directly to the homes. Please reconsider redrawing that part of 124 up to the pass closure gate as part of 126.

I'm confused on how the zones were created. The subdivision I live in is in Cedaredge 124, which is only 35% to goal. The line that cuts off Cedaredge 124 and Cedaredge 125 is within feet of our subdivision. Half of the main road to our subdivision is within 125 and then our U shaped subdivision is strategically cutout and placed in zone 124. It makes no sense! I know everyone in our subdivision would sign up for the high speed gig internet, however, we are in a zone that is included with more rural and less populated areas of the country... making the goal of 565 more people to sign up merely a very long term dream. If our subdivision was included in zone 125 (98% to goal) it would be a win-win. That zone would get to goal and we would be able to get gig internet sooner.

Just came back from town where I run into a lady whom a while backed I talked into registering for Elevate Fiber. She lives in our Orchard City 104 Zone. I asked if they had installed her internet for her yet.....Her Face lit up and she gave me a HUGE BIG SMILE AND SAID "I LOVE IT', "LOVE IT", "LOVE IT"! She said she also got a Roku Device and said she can now watch all kinds of TV and NETFLIX. So another great satisfied member. Really it is a service that sells its self.

Good morning, Ivy. I'm in your same zone. I'm certain we didn't back track. We're slowly ticking away at our goal and only need 53 more people! We just received a new shipment of yard signs. Would you like one to display in front of your home? We also have a big event coming up on Friday at Black Canyon Golf Course, The Montrose Summer Music Series, where we will have a great info booth and be able to talk to a lot of Montrose people about our service. I'm looking forward to getting Elevate soon too!

Good morning, Cheryl. I totally understand your frustration. I wish my zone had live service right now too. The boundaries for the zones are set according to DMEA's power lines. Each zone follows a particular feeder (aka, power line) on the system. The fiber lines will follow the same routes as the power lines, so we aren't able to readjust zone boundaries as this time. Cedar edge 125 is very close to reaching it's goal! I hope you'll continue to spread your excitement for Elevate. The more zones that reach their goal, the more services get installed, the greater the excitement grows for the other zones!

Hi Ginnette, Great timing! We were just reviewing our list of returned contracts today for Orchard City 104. Yes, she should have received an email with a link to return her service agreement earlier this month. Feel free to have her reach out to me directly at becky.mashburn@dmea.com. I can personally send her the contract link. Hi Ivy, Good question. In general, we will install Elevate’s infrastructure to follow DMEA’s power lines. So yes, in many neighborhoods in Montrose the service will be underground. We are using a variety of techniques to do this, including vibratory plowing (check out an example of this here - https://youtu.be/5LHObecYJwU) and horizontal boring (check out an example of this here - https://youtu.be/Am7qi2GNUYo). Our goal is to disturb the landscape as little as possible and we’ll always work to return the property back to the same or better condition when we leave. There will be times when landscaping needs to be removed for safety reasons. For example, some people have planted bushes or put in obstructive landscaping in front of transformers. This is hazardous to our crews when they need to perform maintenance or install equipment. In these cases, the landscaping items won’t be replaced, but we’ll work closely with homeowners to make sure no one is blindsided. Our goal is to provide a much-needed service to our members with as little impact to your yard and landscaping as possible. Thanks!

Kathy, the system for post cards limits three things: 1. the number of post cards an individual can send 2. the number of post cards any one individual receives and 3. the total dollar amount that Elevate spends of post cards each month. It is very likely that in your area, your neighbors have reached the #2 issue (max number of post cards any individual receives. Sorry, but we will not pass out lists of members who have or have not signed up for our services. Hi Kim, Good question! The "1 Wifi device connect" means that our installers will help you with the Wifi set up of 1 device. For instance, if you want help connecting your Smart TV to your new internet service, they will help you do that. It does NOT mean that only 1 Wifi device can be connected to the service. Both the 100 mgb and the gig package will support many Wifi devices being connected and used at the same time.

Hi Kathy, You can see that status of Paonia O47 (and all other zones) by clicking on the areas tab above. Right now, Paonia 047 is 67% to goal. As far as when construction begins, it all depends on when your zone hits 100%. It could be early 2017 if your zone stays on track – let’s keep that momentum going! I can’t promise it will be before you move into your new home, because I simply don’t know when it will happen. You can help that percentage grow by using the postcard function on this site to send postcards to your neighbors, sending emails to your contact list, and even sharing this site on your Facebook page.

I currently am using a VOIP service for my home phone. I moved up here a year ago from Denver so my home number is the same as it was in Denver and I want to keep that number which is for the 303 exchange. I've got 35 years of life around that number. Will I be able to keep that number? Next, is it possible to get a static ip rather than dynamic and if so, is there an associated cost with that? And my final question. . . What is the make and model of the router that you are going to be using. I'd like to do a little reading up on it before it gets installed. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it. Ken

Jerry, Our goals are set based on electrical meters passed (regardless of what type of account that meter serves). While goals may seem high, they are set at levels that help ensure the financial success of Elevate. This helps protect DMEA members like you, as Elevate is a wholly owned subsidiary of DMEA. As we move through this multi-year deployment, some goals may change as we continue to evaluate the financial impacts of each zone built. I understand how you feel, I personally am in a very rural zone and the goal looks daunting. However, when building a new company with such significant infrastructure needs, we have to take it slow and make sure that we protect our members and build a company that will last.

The question “Are there even 706 full time residents in area 124?” is not pessimistic nor critical. I would like to know if your number is based on Full time or “DMEA served” residents. It does seem that it would have a major impact on your goal expectations. On Upper Surface Creek alone there are 20 percent seasonal residents that may not know any time soon about Elevate internet even if I put a door hanger out. Of the people I actually talked to up here there was 100% enthusiasm about Elevate Fiber. Hi Paul, Preregistrations will drive the construction process. Each zone is designed based upon our feeders—electric lines—so each zone has a different amount of meters. The number of preregistrations needed for a zone to reach his goal is based on a percentage of those meters. This means you don’t have to get all homes and businesses within your zone signed up in order to meet your goal. On average, our goals are based on approximately 35% - 65%. Its important to remember, that this business model was put in place to protect DMEA ratepayers—you—and minimize risk. We have services for both residential homes and businesses and intend to serve our “urban” and rural members—even those at the far end of the line. Check out the areas tab and you’ll see that areas you might assume didn’t want our service are leading the charge! As far as timeline, it really does depend on how quickly your zone reaches its goal. On our part, we have a pretty intense marketing plan and are slowing working to get out in each community and zone. I ask for your patience because yes, the total build out of Elevate will take years. We’re installing 4,000 miles of fiber across our territory of 33,000 meters—all because our members are being denied fast, reliable internet. We can use your help too! Elevate is a grassroots effort and we have many members in other areas who have become our champions, spreading the word to their neighbors, touting the benefits of fiber, and canvassing their zones to help get people preregistered. Would you be interested in helping? Just let us know.

Hi Shelby, You’re right, 1,100 is a big number and a big goal. This is a multi-year project, so it may take time to get your zone to its goal. As we move forward in the project, we will work very hard to get the word out in each zone and get people signed up. You can help by sending postcards to your neighbors through this website and emails to your contacts. Follow us on Facebook and share and like our posts – www.facebook.com/ElevateFiber. We have yard signs, t-shirts, and info cards that champions, like you, are welcome to have and help distribute. Remember, Elevate is less than 6 months old and we already have more than 4,000 people preregistered—those numbers are staggering! I hope you won’t lose hope. Elevate was launched because members, like you, were being denied quality high-speed internet by major providers. They didn’t think the “country folk” needed or wanted it. Help us prove them wrong, just like we did more than 75 years ago!

Alright thanks for the response. I just don't see all these farmers signing up. Needing ~1100 more people to sign up in our area alone when there are only ~4k signed up total right now is gonna be basically impossible anytime within the next few years. Got really excited but the way it's zoned just simply doesn't make sense from an ISP business standpoint. I could get 70% within a 2 mile radius to sign up (almost all residential) but because we're "zoned" with miles of farm land, I just don't see it happening, even if our subdivisions are within city limits. Thanks anyway!

Hi Sandra, When you get service is dependent upon when your zone reaches its preregistration goal. The good news: We’ve loaded all zones within the DMEA service territory onto join.elevatefiber.com and you can monitor your zone’s progress by clicking on the “Areas” tab. Next to your zone, you’ll see a percentage to goal and the number of additional signups needed to meet that goal. The sooner your reach 100%, the sooner your zone will get fiber! How can you help your zone meet its goal? Spread the good word. Tell your neighbors about Elevate and get them to preregister. When a zone reaches its goal, we’ll begin constructing our fiber network in that area and reach out to everyone who preregistered to finalize contracts and installation details. Thanks for your support!

Elevate - Becky Mashburn

Hi Shelby, Good question! Our zones are actually designed by our electric feeders—aka power lines. So, the reason you are assigned to the Montrose W 428 is because you receive electric service from those power lines. The fiber will follow the power lines from our substations to the distribution lines and ultimately to the home, which means switching zones isn’t possible. We can’t provide fiber service to you from another zone because you can’t be connected or served from a different line. We base our goal of needed signups on a percentage of meters within the zone. Some zones have more meters and therefore need more signups than others. This is the case with many of our Montrose zones. Going door-to-door is a great place to start and we appreciate any help we can get in that area. Covering the entire DMEA service territory is a multi-year project, so all we can ask for is your continued support, help spreading the word, and of course, patience! Thanks!

Is there anyone we can talk to about Montrose W being lumped into basically this giant area of open country? I literally live within city limits in a fairly new subdivision close to where spring creek rd meets country road 6400. Everywhere around us in about a 2 mile radius is nothing but residential subdivisions where I see tons of signs for Elevate fiber. Yet for some reason we're lumped into this GIANT area of farm lands that goes west, why is this? All these subdivisions are just barely south east of the center of Montrose yet we have to wait till all the farms sign up too? That seems like a major oversight. Charter exists in all of these subdivisions, we have more people in our subdivisions who would easily switch to you guys than some of the tiny areas like Montrose 417, 426, 427, 425, or 416. I would be more than happy to go door to door convincing people to switch if I knew that if County Road 6300 west was it's own area, but instead we literally have like 95% farm lands in our area even though our tiny little area to the east are all residential subdivisions. Heck, I helped build a lot of these houses out here because they are Habitat homes, we're actually overloaded on Charter as is, they have too many people on the lines and have tons of issues at the moment in our subdivision, it's been like this for months. People would GLADLY switch. =)

Hi William, If you click on the areas tab, you'll see that there are currently 9 areas listed. These are considered active zones and are the 9 zones we launched the project with. You can see the progress and even the number of preregistrations needed in order to meet the signup goal. If you are not located within one of those zones, you are part of the DMEA Area. This means that you're just not in an active zone yet, but that we still need you to preregister and express interest in Elevate. This interest will drive our future construction plan. Be on the lookout on this website within the next few months. We hope to be able to list all zones within our service territory so that you can see exactly what you're asking for: how close your neighborhood is to the goals, how many signups are needed to reach the goals, etc. The timeline is directly related to how quickly a zone reaches its goal. Right now, we don't know when Cedaredge will be installed. When all zones (approx. 41) within the DMEA service territory are designed and available on the website, we'll have a better understanding of how close Cedaredge is to meeting its preregistration goal. Thanks!

Just a Question, about an hour ago I checked on our Status in Orchard City and it said 83% and 51 more needed. I just rechecked that status and it said 83% and 53 more needed. Why does it change like that?

Hi Ann, You can start by preregistering! Enter your service address in the box to the right and select the level of service you are interested in—we offer 100Mbps @49.95/month and 1Gig (1,000Mbps) @79.95/month for residential customers. Depending on where you live, you may be in what we call an active zone or an area where we are collecting interest. If you are in an active zone, that means we are working to get enough customers signed up so that we can begin building the fiber network and providing service. If you are in an area where we are collecting interest, we are asking that you preregister so we can plan our future active zones and construction plans. Population doesn’t matter as our goals for each zone are set as percentages, mean the more populous an area, the more signups we actually need. Then it's time to get your neighbors signed up! We try very hard to be in the communities and spread the word about Elevate, but when our customers and members spread the word for us it means so much more. Thanks for your support!

Hello. I have been checking around to get internet at my house and after calling around 10 companies I have found out that I cannot get internet at my house at all. With that being said, I am VERY interested in this service for my area. Since my area is not as closely populated as some of the areas in the town of Montrose, how can we bring this service to my area if we do not have enough supporters due to the lack of population?

David, fiber offers greater reliability in that, with a fiber deployment, the plant is not affected by weather (rain) like legacy copper (xDSL deployment) or line of sight issues (like wireless). It is safe to say that Elevate infrastructure will be as reliable as DMEA power, as it will be running along side our electric infrastructure. If a tree takes out DMEA power, it is also likely to take out Elevate. However, our crews are local and fast to respond to all outages and we will take our Elevate service just as seriously.

Hi David, Over subscription design is 16 to 1 for residential. We are designing the build to support 100 percent subscriber penetration from the start, thus we should never be over 16 to 1 or need to overbuild the area. As 10G becomes more price competitive, we can overlay 10G GPON ONTs for future growth with minimal impact to subscribers.

The problems I see with other internet providers is reliability and over subscription. How will DMEA address this or have they even considered it?

George, Good question, yes, you can change your mind before installation. You can also change your speed at anytime after you have service. The only requirement is that you maintain at least the minimum service level (which is 100 mbps internet). If you want to be BLOWN away by your internet speed, you with the gig! Either way, both speed levels will be much faster than anything else that is currently available in our area.

Hi Davis, You are currently not located within the active Paonia zone for Phase I. I know that probably wasn't what you wanted to hear, but we do appreciate your support. Please know that we have many phases left in our project and we will get to you. I do not have a specific time frame yet. The more of you neighbors you can get signed up for Elevate, the better chance your area has of being included in Phase 2. Thank you!

Hi Douglas, It was stories just like yours that made us start looking into providing fiber broadband initially. Too many of our members have little or no access to fast, reliable internet. So yes, our goal is to make Elevate Fiber available to all members in our service territory – even those in hard-to-reach areas! We are currently in Phase I of the project and we have more phases to go – the overall timeline for building out Elevate to the entire service territory is approximately 5 years. We realize that some of our zones will be much more rural than others and that’s OK. Each zone will be required to meet a take rate. This means that a specific number of customers must preregister in a zone before we begin building the network. This number is a percentage and based on population so some zones will require more preregistrations than others. In early 2017, we hope to have a full deployment map that will show which areas are covered by each of the future phases. Unfortunately, no I do not have a specific timeframe for when we will be able to provide service to your area. However, preregistrations will help up determine the future phases and construction plan. Getting your neighbors, however distant they may be, to preregister will also help us determine interest and could help bring Elevate to your area sooner! Thanks!

If the goal is to bring high-speed internet to DMEA's rural service areas, at what point do you serve outlying areas with sparse populations (if ever)? I can see building out the more populated towns first, such as Orchard City and Paonia in order to get the system up and bring in needed revenues. But how about us that live way out in the middle of nowhere? Will we EVER get ANY high speed service? Right now, the ONLY thing available is Rise Broadband and currently it is very slow and unreliable. We are literally at the end of DMEA's power line, and in fact, had to extend existing power lines in order to reach our property. Please let us know if DMEA really means to bring high speed internet to us truly rural folks that are miles out of the populated areas but are DMEA customers at the very ends of the line. Thank you.

Roxie, Right now we are only building zones that are included in Phase 1. If the subdivision is in the "DMEA Area" it is unfortunately not in Phase 1. Our zones (like the Paonia zone) are based on our electrical system rather than city limits. I am very sorry, but I cannot offer a specific time frame on when Elevate will be built in any areas that are outside of Phase 1. I can tell you that we anticipate the entire build-out (Montrose and Delta counties) to take approximately 5 years. Where any specific area falls within that time frame will be determined partially on how much preregistration interest we see in that area. By early 2017 we hope to have a full deployment map that will show which areas are covered by each of the future phases of our build, however that map has not yet been created. We will use the preregistration data that we are gathering on this site to help us build that phase map. I am sorry I do not have a more direct answer than that, but we simply are not that far along in the future phase planning process.

Paul, good questions! DMEA has been 100% owner of a for-profit LLC for many years. After reviewing various structure options and implications, the DMEA board chose to use this entity to run the Elevate business. This choice was made in order to minimize risk to the members of the cooperative. Since the business is 100% owned by DMEA after tax gains and losses will flow through to DMEA. Cash dividends can be declared and paid to DMEA should the board of the LLC choose. I hope this helps to answer your question. If you have further questions, give me a call at 1-877-OUR-DMEA.

So, Elevate is a wholly owned for-profit subsidiary of DMEA. How does that work? Where will the profits go? From the article, http://www.deltacountyindependent.com/dmea-chief-unveils-broadband-details-cms-3215, it stated that DMEA will own the middle mile and lease it to Elevate. Why does Elevate have the for-profit structure, when DMEA is not-for-profit? Is this just to get funding to build the construction, or is this just a vehicle to limit losses? Does this allow for Elevate to declare a dividend and send the profits back to DMEA?

Dustin, Thank you for your question. "No Goal" means that the address you have entered is in the "DMEA AREA" this area refers to all locations in DMEA's service area that are not in Phase 1 of the Elevate build. Phase 1 is our first phase of construction and is made of 9 zones. Each of those 9 zones has a goal. Once a zone reaches its goal, we release that zone for construction. In the DMEA Area (all locations outside of Phase 1) we are simply collecting interest to help determine which areas will be in Phase 2, Phase 3, Phase 4, etc.. There is no goal in the DMEA Area because those areas are not part of the current phase of construction. Please hang in there though! We have more than 32,000 service locations, it will take us a few years to reach all of them, but we will work hard to bring service to everyone as quickly as we can.

Hi Steven, The Orchard City zone is based on DMEA's substation feeder (electrical lines) rather than the actual city limits. All of our zones are based on DMEA feeders. we have named each zone based on what the area is generally called. For example the "Cobble Creek" zone does not just include the Cobble Creek subdivision, but it was the best descriptor we could think of to name that particular zone. Our feeders simply do not match up exactly with towns, cities, or neighborhoods, so we are doing the best we can to name them as we go. I hope this helps explain. Still, we encourage everyone who wants service to register, we will take into consideration the areas with the greatest interest as we determine where to build and serve first!

Hi Jerry Krager, Right now, we don't have an accurate estimate of when we will be serving Northern Cedaredge. It all depends on interest. The more customers that preregister in your area, the better your chance is at meeting the registration goal and moving your area to an earlier spot in our construction process! I realize your area is not listed in an active zone, but that doesn't mean we aren't monitoring the interest in your area. Please encourage your friends and neighbors to preregister as well, so we can measure interest and plan!

Paula, I am sorry to hear that you are no longer interested in Elevate services. I would like to point out that our $79.95 residential service is for 1 gig speed (1,000 Mb). From what I can tell on their website, Rise offers speeds of 5 Mb, 10 Mb, or 20Mb at your address. Our $79.95, 1,000 Mb service, is 50x faster than the fastest service they currently offer. Plus our service is the only symmetrical service in this area (meaning same speed upload as download). We also offer a 100Mb internet service (which is 5x faster than the fastest speed currently offered by Rise) for only $49.95 per month if that is a better fit for your household. Please let me know if you would like to talk to one of our friendly staff for more information about how our super high speed internet can Elevate your life! Always remember when looking at any internet pricing that you are comparing services of the same speed, because you are paying for speed!
