Paonia was at 17 yesterday and tonight we are at 30! We can’t win when you keep changing the goal! This is totally unfair. We need Elevate as soon as we meet the original goal!
Becky MashburnCampaign Owner
Hi, Daniel. On average it takes between 4 and 6 months to build out a zone once it reaches the goal. You're right, there is a lot of construction work that has to take place before we're able to put live service into homes and businesses. Thanks!
Daniel Fishbein
Probably a recurring question, I'm just curious, how long does the construction take (in a roundabout of time) to get it up into service? I know there is a lot to the process, I just was curious about a timeframe, because I can't wait to get it.
Brian Osborn
Do the zones have the same number of people in them? If not this is a stacked deck and some zones will never reach their goal if there is a target number of people required to join in each Zone
Becky MashburnCampaign Owner
Hi, Adam. Love the enthusiasm! Only 27 more to go now. When we build a zone, it’s a combination of both of the ways you describe. Typically, we build what is called the “backbone” first. Think of this as the interstate or main highway. Then, once that is in place, we can start building all the “exit ramps” and “side streets.” Once you sign your contract, it adds a third and fourth step into the mix. We run the service line to your home and install the outside equipment. After that, it’s time for a home install. Some of this work takes place simultaneously since we have multiple crews working at one time.
Adam Ator
I’m so excited 28 more to go! Come on Paonia 055 were so close. I do have a question does elevate run all the wires and service in the area and then turn on the Internet service for each house or do you do it in sections as you are laying new cables?
Becky MashburnCampaign Owner
Hi, Jerry. On a good note, we’ve actually had 21 preregistrations in Cedaredge 124 since September 1, 2017. On a not so good note, there is still some ways to go for your zone. All I can do is ask for your continued patience and support. We are in year two of a five to six-year project. We realize more frustration is to come for communities as they continue to wait, but we will get there!
jerry krager
Its been two months since my last post. In those two months, area 124 sign ups have increased by ZERO. Why? because as I said two months ago; everyone actually living in area 124 have signed up. Were waiting on people (some of which are not even Colorado residents) THAT DONT LIVE HERE! 124, the area that is 100% signed up at 42%.

Hi Oogie,
Thanks for the reminder. We will get it up on the site ASAP. The event runs from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. We do have a Facebook event live. Would you mind sharing this with others in the area? You can click here to access the listing - https://www.facebook.com/events/294859121019095/. Thanks!

Hi Mike,
I totally understand your frustration. I also know I speak for all of us at DMEA and Elevate when I say I wish we could build fiber to everyone who signed up today – no waiting. But, I can’t. It’s just not possible for us to responsibly build 3,000+ miles of line in a year or two. Our goal is to be available all across DMEA’s service territory within five to six years – we’re already in year two and progress is solid. Please don’t give up. We’re seeing more and more zones hit their goal and as we build out these areas, we’re also building a foundation that will allow us to continue the project. We will get there!
mike levins
I think this goal of sign ups are ridiculous, there isn’t enough people in my zone to hit that goal, I am starting to get frustrated considering towns past us already are live but yet we are not, I’m starting to give up for real. I think this sign up goal is to monopolize the isp in the area which is whatever but come on for real we have been waiting long enough and I know the lines are ran a 1/4 mike down the road on the highway, this is stupid
mike levins
I am in Delta zone 414, and we have adaptive internet whom takes their money but won’t fix our internet, please get elevate out here, I am going crazy
Becky MashburnCampaign Owner
Hi, Darren. Yes, we have what is called a Landlord Permission Form, which is required for renters (and their landlord) to complete along with service contract. You’ll receive this form as an attachment when you receive the email to complete your service contract. This step doesn’t happen until your zone reaches its preregistration goal and we’re ready to begin building. Sit tight for now – your zone is getting close!
Darren Lindsay
Does elevate have a form for renters to have property owners to fill out for permission to install fiber? If not then in what format does this permission need to be and to whom is the permission to be submitted to? Essentially what is the process for getting and supplying the permission to DEMA?
Becky MashburnCampaign Owner
Hi, Bernita. If you are referring to Hotchkiss 48, good news, live service is available right now! I looked up your preregistration and you are located in zone Paonia 55 which is also getting very close to its goal.
Becky MashburnCampaign Owner
Hi John,
This is a common question and we totally understand how the zone boundaries can seem arbitrary. The zones are actually determined by DMEA’s power system. Each zone follows the path of a particular main power line, because the fiber lines will run along the same poles (and paths) as the electricity. So yes, in some cases you will see people close by who are in a different zone. This is because their home is served by a different main power line. It definitely doesn’t mean that you will never get Elevate! Remember, this is a 6-year and 3,000+ mile project so it will take time to cover all that ground. We must also build in this step-by-step approach in order to protect DMEA and you as a member. Unfortunately some of us will wait longer than others, but ultimately Elevate will be available all across DMEA’s service territory. Please stay the course and continue to spread the good word. Your zone is still right there near the top of the list and continues to move closer to the goal all the time!
John Miller
I'm curious why Hanson mesa which is in zone 67 is included in that zone with Redlands mesa, meanwhile we have hotchkiss 48 literally 200 feet from house on the same road I'm on. Seems more like we should be in the dark blue paonia zone. I don't know who came up with zone boundaries but that's just nuts.
Also I seriously doubt we will ever meet our signup goal for our huge very sparsely populated zone that we have been put in. Does this mean i will never get elevate? Im desperate for the internet at this point. Feeling pretty disgruntled and thinking about resigning up for a contract with my terrible TDS service and canceling my elevate preregistration due to the insanity of the zone I've been placed in.

Perfect timing! We just completed our round of testing and soft launch, which means voice service is available now! Simply call us at 877-687-3632 and a member of our customer service team will get you started. Thanks!

Good morning, Jerry and Michael. I feel your frustrations. The infrastructure you’re seeing being built around Cedaredge 125, such as communication pedestals (what you’re more likely seeing in lots around town) are part of the distribution infrastructure that will serve that zone. I know it may look like we’re providing service to an empty lot, but remember we require a 12-month contract. This means we will only build to and install fiber at a home/property where a customer has contracted to pay for a year of service. We are not providing internet service to places that aren’t paying for it. I understand how seeing our construction team install or work on equipment in vacant or empty lots can be confusing.
I also understand how it can feel like you’ve lived and breathed Elevate for a year and still not have everyone know about it. I have to remind myself everyday that we are only in year 2 of a 6-year project. Something this monumental will take time, in regards to both construction and simply getting people signed up. Seasonal customers are already a reality for us and we have many people who take advantage of the vacation rate. It still costs Elevate and the cooperative to build to seasonal homes so we must include them in the zone. It would irresponsible of us to not consider the costs and, in return, the revenue, of serving these types of homes.
I truly appreciate your support of Elevate. All I can do is continue to ask for your patience and help spreading the word. Thank you!
Michael Isenhart
Interesting that Elevate can install fiber optic infrastructure on empty lots across from the Cedaredge Schools which will produce no revenue soon and leave out a the high density paying customers surrounding the golf course?? Please explain this.
jerry krager
To Larry Bailey, I'm in 124 as well. We will not reach 100 percent because just about everyone who lives in 124 all year long have alrready pre-registered. I fail to understand why they included so many seaonal residents in that zone.
